About Leland Vall
AmSat Certified Alexander Teacher
I discovered the Alexander Technique in 1982 in a large group demonstration.
How I started
At the start of the class, the Alexander teacher went around the room gently repositioning each person’s head. I could see that something changed each time he did this but when he came to me the experience was an epiphany. It was like a reintroduction to my body.
Like anyone, I thought I knew how to hold my head, walk, sit in a chair, and breathe. But what I didn’t know is that even a small improvement in how I “use” my body could make such a giant difference. Of course, I have taken many Alexander lessons since then, but today, I still benefit from that first experience and I am sure that I look and feel better every moment of my life because of it.
Praise for Leland Vall's teaching
I took private lessons with Leland and found him to be knowledgeable, patient and able to communicate the Alexander message in various ways so that I could incorporate the information. In six sessions I learned how to use my body more economically and effectively.
My classes with Leland were amazing and really changed my life! I wasn’t able to take many classes, but the revelations I got from Leland’s classes made me conscious of how I use my body. I recommend him wholeheartedly!
I’ve studied with Leland for many years and though my back problems cleared up fairly soon, I hope to continue for many more for the body benefits and for the sheer delight of it. Try his short, transparent Alexander Tips. His website has a wealth of clear ideas and useful links.
I took private lessons from Leland and found him hugely helpful. He is a keen listener and is very responsive with practical solutions to one’s problems. I recommend him highly.
