Hi Molly,

Thank you for contacting me. The tips and the book can be helpful, and many people say that they are, but they are limited because they don't offer feedback and they don't clarify misconceptions. Certainly they don't offer a guiding touch, which is really how the Alexander Technique is most effectively taught. It seems that you feel that the Alexander Technique has helped you in certain ways, although maybe not in this particular case. Maybe it's time to try an in-person lesson with a certified teacher. www.amsatonline.org.

Best,

Your tips are so helpful in reminding me of what I’ve read in your book. I hike and have found that the biggest challenge is keeping tension out of my neck and shoulders, even if the crown of my head is pointing in the right direction. I would love to see more tips to help break this habit!
