In a lecture alexander told,
if we keep the head back and down the torso goes forward making neck undue tension .
If we keep the head forward and up and the torso back the neck frees.
Both head, neck , torso supports as a whole for limbs to release with a given stimulus like sit,bend ,walk etc.
The neck, limbs are attached to torso,
the torso direction which is BACK, directly helps the direction of neck,limbs and indirectly to go head forward and up for preventing the head compressing the spine.
