Imagine your breath as ocean waves.

In the previous Tip, waves were about posture. This time they are about breathing. A rushed breath, a gasp, is a symptom of impatience. Breathing is something to allow, not something to do. For easier breathing, and less rushing, try waiting for your next breath as if you are waiting for the next wave.

  2. Why leland val told to keep hand on , all the sides of torso while breathing , in his free breathing audio mp3 which is aimed for the general public?
    Ans@ due to the faulty sense of movement may be.
    1)we think the stomach,floating ribs are moving with breath ,but in reality it wont moves.
    But, we can sense it by keeping hand on stomach,floating ribs.
    2) we think the back is moving. But, the movement sense may be faulty.
    If by keeping the hand on the back the sense we are going to get, may be reliable.

    What are other parts i can get the reliable sensory, using my own hands?

    Excuse me if wrong explnations are there.

  5. Breath meanswhereby(reasoning processes)?
    1. If i breath with the chest the diaphram not releases and my lower back big bulk of the lungs wont fill with oxygen.
    2. If i breath with my stomach the stomach bulges more, means iam not using floating ribs and reduced my diaphram release and lessened the oxgen to the lower back of the lungs.
    3. If i use the back for breathing, my lower back of the lungs fills with more air
    4.if my neck free my chest will be satisfactory, then i will be allowed to breath.
    5.if i not sit slump, i can get normal amount of oxygen.
    6. I will remember the alexander ‘wishpered ah’ ,but i wont do that.

  6. BREATH vs MUSCLE,BONE STRUCTURES OF THE TORSO

    What happens with inbreath ?

    1) the breath goes to nose and to lungs
    2) the floating ribs muscle,bone structure moves .
    3) the abdomin moves
    4)the lower abdomin moves.
    5)the lower back moves.
    6)the upper back moves
    7)the buttoks moves
    8)the sides of the abdomen moves
    9)the shoulders moves to allow the upper back

    these happens with muscle,bone structures with lying,stand,sit,walk etc with inbreath.

    ‘One after the other alltogether’ with inbreath.while the remaining parts are attracting towards alexDirections.

    What about the ‘out breath’ reasonings?

    Wether my abdomin,lower abdomin moving with breath now?
    What is the present direction of upper back now with breath?
    Note@ no need DO any thing.
    The above questions moves me, since i know the right direction.

  8. Bone structure movement VS muscle movement VS (alexander direction).

    We are breathing.
    1) with the breath the ‘bone structure’ of ribcage moving first?
    OR
    the ‘muscle structure of the bone’ of the ribcage moves first?

    Which moves first ?
    Ribcage structure OR RIbcage muscles.

    The commonscence says,
    1. The ‘muscles of the ribcage bone structure ‘ moves first.
    Then, the bone structure of the ribcage moves next.
    (this commonsense applies to inspiration,expiration)

    so, again the commonsense says
    ” the bone structure POSTURE is giving support to muscle POSTURE of the ribcage”.

    So,
    the alex postural directions takes care of ‘bone structure posture,muscle posture’ with movemental direction.
    This statement is commonsense.

    Note@
    1. If the muscles not moves in space, the bone structures not moves in space.
    2. If the bony structures not moves in space, then the muscle groups not moves in space.

    The commonsense says,
    ‘the whole torso moves with breath’

    to move the torso with breath, the reasonings@
    1. The ‘torso skeletal bone structure posture’ ,makes the ‘torso muscles move with satisfactory tension’.
    2.the ‘torso muscle groups posture with movement’, makes the
    ‘torso skeletal posture and movement’.

    The ‘alexander torso postural directions’ leads to
    a. Torso muscles movement along with,Torso bone structures movement
    satisfactorily.

    Note@ the common sense says,
    to maintain the posture of torso bone structures,
    the ALLOWING of the muscle groups of the torso to move with breath is COMPULSARY.
    2.and to allow the muscle groups of torso to move with breath
    THE torso skeletal posture is COMPULSARY.

    The ‘ alex torso postural directions works on both,
    1.torso muscles
    2.torso bones structure(for to breath happen naturally,
    WHILE THE REMAINING PARTS ARE MOVING TOWARDS ‘ALEX POSTURAL DIRECTIONS’.)

    and
    alex postural directions of the torso with ‘breathing activity’, makes the sensory passing to the brain from the different muscle groups of the torso.

Whether a bad breather , has to inhibit every breath(nondoing and no end-gain,not comparing the end or breath) and direct the ribs to alex direction, for keeping the muscle tension of the ribs satisfactory, while head,neck,back,limbs mechanisms are not doing for making the habit of good breathing?

  11. Thoratic spine has 12 vertebrae.
    And 7 pairs of ribs are connected to first 7 vertebrae, and these are less movable and responsible for bad habit of raising the chest and chest out .

    The 3 pairs of false ribs and the remaining 2 pairs of floating ribs are attached to the the thoratic remaing vertebrae.

    The last rib is attached almost touching to the hips at the sides.

    The diaphram is attached to the false 5 pair ribcage.
    And the floating ribs with inbreath, outbreath moves and are part of back widening process.

    1)The satisfactory tension of the ribs(false,floating) makes the satisfactory movemental direction( alex DIRECTION) of the ribs.
    2)the satisfactory direction(alex DIRECTION) of the ribs keeps the ribs muscle tension of the ribs.

    Both are tightly interconnected and one is with out another while all other mechanisms are NONDOING.

    What is the satisfactory muscle tension of the ribs(false,floating) ribs?
    Ans@ the tension of the ribs while moving or moving towards alex direction.

    What is the satisfactory muscle tension of true ribs?
    Ans@ the muscle tension of the ribs, with which they not raises or goes to chest out direction with stimulus of walk,sit,BREATH etc is the satisfactory tension.

    Muscle tension of ribs(true,false,floating) keeps the direction.

    The direction of ribs(true,false,floating)keeps the muscle tension satisfactory, while all other directions are in their satisfactory directions.

    THE BODY IS MOVABLE, THE RIBS ARE MOVABLE.

  12. My friend name is satya.
    Daily he comes to office wearing a tea- shirt.
    At morning 9 am his stomach is slim.
    If i notice at 12 pm, if i notice his stomach it comes 2 inches out.
    If i see at 5 pm, it almost protruding.
    Some times if he senses that protrution, he pulls that stomach in…..
    But, this specific pulling in clearly
    1) end-gain
    2) comparing with end or (comparing with slim)

    but, he can command all other mechanisms with stimulus , for making stomach satisfaction.

    But, he has to believe a change in stomach a change as a whole mechanism.
    He has to believe a permenant slim can be get with the reasoning process.

    But,
    reducing the stomach protrution, by using the alexander technique alone is the real adventure?

    ‘ that he is keeping his both hands on the child floating ribs at the back’
    why he is keeping the hands at the floating ribs?
    What is the exact reasoning in his mind ?
    What satisfactory reasoning we can give for this scenario?

    Therefore when you wish , ‘as you say’ to take a breath(inspiration) , all we have to do is to reduce the pressure exerted upon the lungs by the chest walls, and to employ those muscular coordinations.
    It then follows that if we wish to exhale breath (expiration),we merly have to increase the pressure on the lungs by contracting the chest walls of the thorax.
    It must be remembered that
    in all these contractions and expansions the diaphram plays its part moving upwards or downwards, with sympathy of the particular adjustment of the bony thorax ,
    WHILE NECK,HEAD,BACK,LImbs are NONDOING.

    describing breathing and comparing with ocean weaves is excellent idea.

    WE HAVE NO RIGHTS AND AUTHORITY TO CONTROL THE BREATH.

    since,
    i think breathing center is responsible for breathing, why we are foolishly doing
    the work of breathing center.
    if we do with the breath, then we are directly interfering with the program and
    functionality of the breathing center.

    we are interfering the breathing center natural functionality, by tightening the
    neck ,by lifting the chest and narrowing the back,and by tucking our pelvis , and by locking the knees by pulling our shoulders back.

    why we are interfering those muscles and directly lessening the functionality
    of the breathing center.

    why we have the idea and impression, THAT BREATHING SHOULD BE RYTHEMIC.
    if a perssion is running how his breathing should be rythemic?
    if a person is under tension or lifting heavy weight how his breathing should be
    rythemic?

    i think this false impression .
    and
    why we need to do with the breath? the breathing center is there for working for our benefit, why we are doing different breathing exercises?

    breathing is just like ocean weaves , like in ocean how big waves and small
    waves comes breathing also, based on demands of the body our breathing rythem
    changes, we have no rights and authority or authenticiy to interfere with that one.

    BUT WE CAN DO ONE THING
    =========================
    show the good direction to the breath, just by releasing neck head and back.
    the breathing center likes and loves you, and works for you.

    and teach to BREATHING CENTER the experience by releasing the neck head and back.
    the breathing center really likes that experience, and really wants to stay with that experience.

    ONE GOOD IDEA WHAT I THINK GOOD IS::::::::
    notice when you are stopping the breathing, then we should be in consciouss to find when we are stopping the breathing.
    the reasoning processes may be:

    IAM ONLY NOTICING WHEN IAM STOPPING BREATHING. I DONT WANT TO DO ANY THING WITH
    THE BREATH . MY AIM IS THE TIME WHEN IAM STOPPING THE BREATHING.
    IF I FOUND THAT TIME , I WILL ALLOW THE TIGHTENED BREATH BY THINKING ALEXANDER GOOD DIRECTIONS OF USE WHICH I HAD EXPERIENCED.

    alexander tried years to get his knowledge and fruits of this technique.
    your amazing tips giving the viewers wonderful ideas to practice and experiencing
    his technique.
    IF ALEXANDER NOT SHARED HIS KNOWLEDGE , WHAT HAPPENS?
    some body may invent this type of technique? i have no answer?
    but he distributed his knowledge to other poor , not healthy, patients etc
    for gaining their ends satisfactorily.
    KNOWLEGE DISTRIBUTION INCREASES THE KNOWLEDGE,
    alexander did just like that.
    he made very paradoxical statements.

    if you keep one gun infront of alexander, and say change your idea?

    he may says:

    let the neck be free.

    to let the back lengthen and widen
    let the neck be free.

    to let the legs release away from the torso
    let the neck be free.

    to let the shoulders release out to the sides
    let the neck be free

    allow the head to go forward and up
    allow the back into length and width
    allow the legs to release away from torso
    allow the shoulders to release out to the sides

    then the neck will be free.
