Tip 83 – Reduce Back Pain by Standing Over Your Legs

Reduce low back pain by standing over your legs.

It is common for people to stand by leaning against the lower back while pushing the pelvis forward. Your back doesn’t end in the lumbar region, it continues to the bottom of your pelvis. Standing over your legs takes pressure off your lumbar region, as well as allowing you to stand taller and move more easily. Watch the video at Tip 77.

  1. Use the legs

    OR

With stimulus of sit, stand, walk, bend think of neck going back head going forward and up and back(torso) going back and up and knees going away from hips(torso) and base of the feet into the ground and shoulders going out to the side and arms lengthening ,’one after the other all together’ , DAILY.

  2. You are trying to inhibit the chest raising or chest out while raising from a chair, walk etc.
    But,
carefully notice if the head is back and down while raising then chest is already forward and out and the lumbar pelvis is back of the chest with shorten………
    Else if,
the lumbar pelvis is back of the chest with shorten narrow, then the chest is already forward and stooped while raising from a chair…..

  3. Open the dictionary, and find the meaning of the CHEST.

What part you are thinking of the chest up to now?

Alexander wrote in his book like@
‘my old habitual tendency to lift the chest increased while keeping the head forward and up, that made to shorten arc of the spine , and this has bad effect on the total torso it self’

    and i decided@
‘ i have to put the head forward and up in such a way prevented the lifting of the chest, simultaneously brought about the widening of the back’.

What is the part you are thinking about the chest?
    Ans@
    1. The chest is not the front of the torso ribcage alone.
2.the chest is the part with WHOLE RIBCAGE, THORATIC SPINE,STERNUM combination.

    What is the chest out?
The whole ribcage, thoratic spine forward and out.

What are you imagining the chest picture in your mind, but remember it is not the front part alone, but the whole ribcage, thoratic spine, sternum.

  4. Some interesting alexander vocabulary to notice.
    1. The head hoes goes forward and up @ the head not goes to back and down.
    2. I jumped on to the earth@ i not jumped on to the sky
    3. The earth rotates around the sun@ the sun not rotates around the earth.
    4. He beaten him with his right hand equals to@ he not beaten him with his left hand, leg or beaten with a stick.
    5. Iam good person@ indirectly you are saying he is bad.
    6. The legs goes away from the back@ the legs not goes towards the back.
    7. Iam alexander student equals to@ iam not other technique student.
    8. Alexander students are good @ alexander students are not bad.
    9. Iam walking on my feet@ iam not walking on my head.
    10. I use the hands for picking the objects@ i not use the legs for picking up the objects
    11. I eat with mouth is equals to
    i eat not with nose.
    Etc….

  5. The COMMONSENCE of spine?
    Ans@
let take two parts of the spine(part A, part B)
    1. The lengthened thoratic curve(part A).

How i can say the thoratic curve lengthened?
Ans@ since, i compared the thoratic curve length with cervical curve length and lumbar, pelvis length .

    Ok.

    2. The lumbar,pelvis length (part B)

how i can say lumbar, pelvis lengthened?
Ans@ since, i compared this length with thoratic curve length.
    OK.

    I will keep the thoratic curve(part A)
shorten by raising the chest or pushing the chest out CONSCIOUSLY . Then what happenned?
    The thoratic curve SHORTENED.

Now how i can say the thoratic curve shortened?
Ans@ now, i compared length and position of the thoratic curve with cervical and lumbar, pelvis.

    Ok,
    the questions are@
    1. I consciously shortened the thoratic curve only, but carefully notice…..
    a. Even though you not shortened cervical curve length consciously, it got shortened.
    B. And the lumbar curve, pelvis length sh
    ortened.

    This is surprising.

I not did any thing, i only consciously shortened the thoratic curve. But, the other curves shortened.

YES, I SHORTENED THE LUMBAR, CERVICAL CURVES.

If you not shortens the lumbar, cervical curves it is impossible to shorten the thoratic curve.
    Is this explanation true.

This proves the body lengths are integrated.

  7. If i try 100 experiments on my, mindbody using alexander principles of good use,
iam confident atleast one experiment will HIT with f.m.alexander intension.

  8. The thoratic spine has 12 vertebrae and 12 ribs attached to it.
    Out of 12 vertebrae
    1. The 1st vertebrae is connected to neck cervical spine.
    2. The last 12 th vertebrae is connected to lumbar spine 1st vertebrae.

And the the thoratic spine length is almost 60 to 75 percent of total length of the torso.

Are you thinking the first 5 vertebrae and leaving the 7 vertebrae.

Am i thinking only 5 vertebrae and thinking like iam thinking all?

    Iam challenging you,
you are not thinking the whole thoratic spine direction, which is ‘back and up’ and leaving some vertebrae stooped or forward or pocked?

  9. “people always says what to do by others, but really not doing self”- f.m.alexander

“you cant say what to do ,to others.
Because, what you are saying is a sensation”-f.m.alexander.

But, iam saying to remember myself.

  10. You are going to shop by walk thinking about what to purchase, then say VERY VERY VERY LOUDLY IN YOUR MIND
‘What is the present direction of my neck’ ?
you should sure listen the above question with your ‘mind ears’.
    And
then say VERY VERY VERY LOUDLY IN YOUR MIND
‘What is the present direction of my head’?
Note@ dont do some thing with neck, head.
    1. Question your self.
    2. Get the answer
    3. If the answer is
neck back and up ,head forward and up.
In this case no need to do any thing.

If you got the head back and down and neck stoop, dont do some thing.
    1. Analyse the breath torso, limbs.

You are lucky, you found bad habit.
Now also dont do some thing.

    The sensory does its duty.

You went inside the shop, and asking the price of the item.
then say VERY VERY VERY LOUDLY IN YOUR MIND
‘What is the present direction of my feet, neck, head’
get the answers first, then act.

Then the sensory nerves likes you.
You have shown them a good path to release.

You came out side from the shop, and thinking about taking auto to go to home.
    then say IN YOUR MIND
‘What is the present direction of my neck, head, torso?
    Get the answers.
Dont try to put them right, it is foolishly waste of time.

Get as many answers from as many parts? You can practice, you can master them.
You can become a player with new skill.
    Believe f.m. Alexander.

  11. Pain…pain.pain,
    every body says?

A muscular dystrophy patient wont have pain, but the muscles have less tone in some places and more tone in other places.

This is the faulty sense, the mind habituated that.

Those who have pain they are lucky, the mind is trying to cure the pain in some cases.

Alexander can cure painful faulty sense as well as painless faulty sense.
